3 Cab Features That Will Make Life Easier On The Road

If you are ready to invest in a new-to-you used freightliner truck, do not set your sights low when it comes to expectations for the sleeper portion of the truck. There are lots of great features you can find even in used trucks that will increase your comfort when you are on the road.

Separation

The first thing you want to pay attention to is how the driving cab and the sleeper cab are separated from one another.  You want to purchase a truck that has a clear definition between the driver cab and the sleeper cab. This will help you separate your work area from your private sleeping area. It can be easier to sleep when you don't associate your sleeper cab with your daily work activities.

Storage

A great sleeper cab will find lots of ways to incorporate storage into the space so that you can fit everything you need into the space. For example, maybe there is built-in storage under the bed. Or perhaps a panel lifts up from the floor to access a below-the-deck storage compartment. Think about all the stuff that you need and like to bring with you on the road, and make sure that there is storage space for all of your items.

Lighting

Next, make sure that the sleeper area has good lighting. Its not like you are going to want to plug in a bunch of lamps to light up the space. You want a sleeper cab that has good built-in lighting options. Ideally, there will be a little mood lighting so you can have some dim lights when you just want to relax and there will be brighter lights that light up the entire environment when you are looking to eat some food, watch some television or do whatever other activities you enjoy engaging in.

Kitchen

A sleeper cab may not have space for a full kitchen like an RV, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't come with a few kitchen features. Look for a sleeper cab that has built-in space for a refrigerator, a toaster oven and a microwave. Make sure there is also somewhere you can store water. This can make it easier to get a glass of water or use water for your cooking. A sleeper cab that comes with a functional sink is a big bonus.

When looking at used cabs, don't feel like you have to skimp on comfort when it comes to the sleeper portion. Make sure that the sleeper area offers your storage, adequate lights, kitchen space, and a feeling of a defined space.
